Enjoy Year-Round Fun at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts

Whether you are planning to visit in the spring, summer, winter, or fall, no NC mountain getaway is complete without a stop at The Black Mountain Center for the Arts. Here are some of the best things to do at this community non-profits art facility:

1.BROWSE THE GALLERY

The Black Mountain Center For The Art’s mission is to “bring arts to the people and people to  the arts.” When you browse through the Gallery, you’ll find an extensive selection of thought-provoking pieces. The changing exhibits feature everything from contemporary to traditional works of art, including paintings, ceramics, pottery, and more.

2. ENJOY CLAY CLASSES

Do you want to try your hand at pottery? From hand-building to wheel throwing, you can learn how to make incredible clay masterpieces at the Black Mountain facility. Their Community Clay Studio offers a wide array of classes for adults. Your experienced instructor will take you through the entire process with step-by-step instructions. Because the classes are so popular, the spots tend to fill up fast. Make sure to register online or at the BMCA office if you are interested in signing up!

3. LEARN SOMETHING NEW

In addition to clay classes, you can sign up for a variety of other classes to get those creative juices flowing. From dance and painting to writing and Asian paper-making, there are a variety of classes for both children and adults. Unwind with a relaxing yoga class, learn how to play the harp, or take a creative movement class. If you can dream it, the Black Mountain Center for the Arts probably has it!

4. CATCH A PERFORMANCE AT THE BLACK MOUNTAIN THEATER

Black Mountain’s Front Porch Theater is currently in their 5th season of producing high-quality theater for the public. If you plan to visit the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, make sure to get your tickets to the latest smash-hit comedy show, play, or musical! Past productions include “Freud’s Last Session” and “Steel Magnolias,” and you won’t want to miss their upcoming production of “It’s a Wonderful Life!”

5. ATTEND A CONCERT OR EVENT

In addition to plays, the organization presents several concerts and other exciting events throughout the year. Summer Camps are offered each summer in June, July, and August. They also host an Auction for the Arts in the Spring and holiday performances during the wintertime. And their 3-day Black Mountain Art in Bloom is one of the most popular flowers and art shows around.
