3 Things to Do at Hickory Nut Gap Farm
1. Shop Local
If you’ve ever bought meat or produce from a farm, you know that it tastes much better than anything found in stores. That’s especially true at Hickory Nut Gap Farm. You can purchase 100% grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and poultry, all raised on the farm. It is the ideal choice for stocking your freezer or cooking tonight’s dinner.
In addition, from June to October, you can pick seasonal fruit like apples, blueberries, and raspberries! The farm sells more than just meat and fruit, though. Their store features a line of food products from local companies including 5th Sun Specialties, Haw Creek Honey, and True South. Other Asheville area products like crafts, lotions, and soaps are available as well!
2. Enjoy A Meal
Of course, you can always visit the farm and sit down for a delicious meal! You can sit down for lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday through Saturday. The lunch menu features Southern classics like pimento cheese and crackers and barbecue pulled pork. In addition, Hickory Nut Gap Farm features an amazing Sunday brunch menu! On Sundays, we recommend trying the egg, cheese, and apple butter biscuit! No matter when you come by, your taste buds will thank you.
3. Have Fun at an Event
Hickory Nut Gap Farm hosts a variety of fun festivities throughout the year! In the fall, you can look forward to corn mazes, picking out your own pumpkin, and farm scavenger hunts with prizes! During the summer, you will also find a variety of kid-friendly activities, including horseback riding, arts, and crafts.
Although the events change with the seasons, one thing that remains consistent is that education is an important aspect of Hickory Nut Gap Farm. Both workshops and culinary classes are available throughout the year. For a full list of farm event, check out the Hickory Nut Gap Farm website.
