5 Reasons to Make a Trip to the Annual Sourwood Festival

1. Oh, Honey!

Since 1977, thousands of people have visited downtown Black Mountain to attend the Sourwood Festival, and with good reason! Held each year in August, the Sourwood Festival marks the start of the Sourwood honey selling season. This special honey is culled from the Sourwood tree, which is indigenous to the Southern Appalachian area. While at the festival, guests can learn all about the honey and the hard working bees that create it. Feel free to chat with the beekeepers and pick up a jar of gourmet honey to bring home with you!

2. Shop ‘Til You Drop

Are you looking for the perfect souvenir for your family vacation or perhaps a locally unique addition to your wardrobe? Whatever it is that you need, you’ll likely find it at the Sourwood Festival. Here, you can expect over 200 vendors selling a wide range of goods and products. From artisans offering handmade jewelry and local artwork to homemade jams and jellies, you will love exploring our region’s local talent.
