What is the Polar Plunge?
Whether you choose to participate or stand back and watch, we promise that the Lake Lure Polar Plunge will become your New Year’s Day tradition. Each year, hundreds dive into the chilly Lake Lure to support local charities. Wild costumes, bonfires, hot chocolate, and a live DJ complete the affair.
Grab last year’s Halloween costume and jump in! All participants leave with a commemorative medal for their bravery. Proceeds benefit The Chamber of Hickory Nut Gorge and Hickory Nut Gorge First Responders.
How to Win
Prizes are awarded for the best costume, so dress to impress! There are also awards for the youngest, oldest, and Plunger who travels the furthest. - The Polar Plunge takes place every year at noon on January 1. Registration is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- The cost to participate is only $20. Admission is free for spectators, so bring your family and friends!
