As summer turns to fall, people gather from all over the country along the Blue Ridge Mountain line. The mountain air cools down and the leaves turn from green to gold. This makes it the perfect time of year to celebrate the local beer scene in downtown Asheville! With the perfect mix of beer, food, and music, you’re not going to want to miss the Asheville Oktoberfest during the second week of October. Here’s why.

Breweries and Vendors Participating in Asheville Oktoberfest
First of all, there’s no shortage of beverage options at Asheville Oktoberfest. With over 28 breweries in attendance, you’ll definitely see some familiar beers. You’ll also come across some seasonal brews crafted right here in North Carolina!
The Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is a proud participant of Asheville Oktoberfest. They’re one of the largest operating breweries in the United States and distribute beer worldwide from their California and North Carolina locations. As a prominent leader in the brewing industry, Sierra Nevada offers some of the finest crafted beers in the world.
Sierra Nevada, Samuel Adams, and Lagunitas are just a few of the popular breweries you’ll find at Asheville Oktoberfest. You’ll also spot some local favorites such as Terrapin Beer Company, Foothills Brewing, and Pisgah Brewing. Pisgah Brewing Company produces some of the most sought after ales in Western North Carolina. As a small, local, brewery, you won’t find their ales anywhere else! You can find the full list of participants on the event website.
Since you can’t have a proper Oktoberfest event without Bavarian-inspired cuisines, Asheville hosts an assortment of vendors serving German staples to pair with your beverage. Feel free to indulge in bratwursts, Reubens, specialty pretzels, and other delicious finger foods. You certainly won’t have to look far for something to snack on in between beer tastings!
In addition to beverages and food, Asheville Oktoberfest has live bands that play German-themed music all afternoon. This entices dancing, laughter, cheers, and an all around good time! With folk tunes filling the air, drinks flow like water as games and competitions ensue. The crowd will cheer as teams compete in drinking relay races, bratwurst eating competitions, a traditional German costume contest, and much more. You will not go home hungry or thirsty!
